DOPATHYL Methyldopa Tablet 250mg

Indications / Uses: 
Methyldopa 250mg is indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It lowers blood pressure by stimulating central alpha-2 receptors, which decreases nerve signals that cause blood vessels to constrict. It is commonly used for the management of hypertension, including hypertension during pregnancy, under the supervision of a healthcare professional.

Dosage/Directions for use:

Adults: The usual initial dose is 250mg two to three times daily for the first 48 hours. The dosage may be adjusted according to the patient's response. The usual maintenance dose ranges from 500mg to 2g daily, divided into 2 to 4 doses. The maximum recommended daily dose is 3g. Use in children should only be upon the recommendation of a healthcare professional.

Administration: Methyldopa is administered orally and may be taken with or without food. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water and taken at the same time each day.

Contraindications: This product should not be used in individuals with known hypersensitivity to methyldopa or any component of the formulation. It is contraindicated in patients with active liver disease.
