MEDRIZINE - Cetirizine Drops 2.5mg/ml 10ml
Indications / Uses:
It is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with allergic conditions in infants and children. It is commonly used to manage allergic rhinitis symptoms, including sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyes, as well as allergic conjunctivitis and allergic skin reactions such as rashes and itching. As a second-generation antihistamine, cetirizine works by blocking histamine activity, helping reduce allergic symptoms while causing minimal drowsiness compared with older antihistamines.
Dosage/Directions for use:
Infants 6–12 months: The recommended dose is 1 mL (2.5 mg) once daily.
Children 1–2 years: The recommended dose is 1 mL once or twice daily, administered approximately every 12 hours as directed.
Children 2–5 years: The recommended dose is 2 mL once daily or 1 mL twice daily (every 12 hours).
The maximum recommended daily dose for children below 6 years is 5 mg (2 mL). Cetirizine is not recommended for infants below 6 months due to insufficient safety and efficacy data.
Administration: Cetirizine is administered orally and may be taken with or without food. It should be taken according to the prescribed dosing schedule and swallowed with sufficient water. For liquid preparations, use an accurate measuring device to ensure the correct dose is administered.
Contraindications: It should not be used in individuals with a known hypersensitivity or allergy to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, piperazine derivatives, or any component of the formulation. It should be avoided in patients with severe kidney impairment or those who have experienced previous allergic reactions to antihistamines.
