ZEBET - Gliclazide Tablet 80mg
Indications / Uses:
Is indicated for the management of Type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent diabetes) in adults.
Dosage/Directions for use:
Adults (18 years and older): Start with 40–80 mg (½–1 tablet) once daily, depending on blood sugar levels. The dose may be adjusted based on response, usually by 40–80 mg at a time. If the daily dose exceeds 160 mg, divide it into two doses per day.
Administration: Gliclazide is administered orally and should be taken with food, preferably during a meal, to help reduce the risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels). For modified-release (MR) tablets, the tablet should be swallowed whole and should not be crushed or chewed, as altering the tablet may affect the medication’s release and effectiveness. Any instructions regarding splitting the tablet should be followed according to the specific product information or as advised by a healthcare professional.
Contraindications: ZEBET Gliclazide should not be used in individuals with Type 1 diabetes mellitus (insulin-dependent diabetes), as it is not effective in this condition. It is also contraindicated in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic pre-coma, or coma. Use should be avoided in individuals with severe kidney impairment, severe liver dysfunction, or known hypersensitivity to gliclazide, other sulfonylureas, sulfonamides, or any component of the formulation due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects.
