DATAB - Loperamide Capsule 2mg
Indications / Uses:
Loperamide 2mg is indicated for the symptomatic management and relief of acute, non-specific diarrhea. It helps reduce the frequency of bowel movements and improves stool consistency by slowing intestinal movement, allowing increased absorption of water and electrolytes in the digestive tract. This medication may also be used for the control of chronic diarrhea associated with certain medical conditions, helping manage symptoms and maintain better bowel regulation.
Dosage/Directions for use:
Adults (18 years and older): The recommended initial dose is 4 mg, followed by 2 mg after each loose or unformed bowel movement. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose of 16 mg within 24 hours.
Children 9–11 years: The recommended dose is 2 mg three times daily. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose of 6 mg within 24 hours.
Children 6–8 years: The recommended dose is 2 mg twice daily. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose of 4 mg within 24 hours.
Use is not recommended for children below 6 years of age. For acute diarrhea, treatment should generally not exceed 5 days unless advised by a healthcare professional.
Administration: Loperamide 2mg is administered orally. Take the medication with water and follow the recommended dosing schedule. Additional doses should only be taken after subsequent loose bowel movements and should not exceed the recommended daily limit. If diarrhea persists, worsens, or is accompanied by other concerning symptoms, medical evaluation should be sought.
Contraindications: This product should not be used in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to loperamide or any component of the formulation. Loperamide should be avoided in cases of bloody diarrhea, diarrhea accompanied by high fever, or suspected infectious diarrhea. It is also contraindicated in individuals with acute ulcerative colitis or other severe inflammatory conditions of the colon, unless specifically directed by a healthcare professional.
