DLI - Mebendazole Susp 100mg/60ml
Indications / Uses:
It is indicated for the treatment of intestinal worm infections (helminthic infections) caused by susceptible parasites. It is commonly used for infections such as roundworm (Ascaris lumbricoides), whipworm (Trichuris trichiura), pinworm (Enterobius vermicularis), and hookworm (Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus). Mebendazole works by interfering with the parasite’s ability to absorb nutrients, leading to the elimination of the worms from the intestinal tract.
Dosage/Directions for use:
Adults and Children 2 years and older: The usual dose is 100mg twice daily for 3 consecutive days for infections caused by roundworm, whipworm, and hookworm.
For pinworm infection, a single dose of 100mg may be given, with a repeat dose after 2 to 4 weeks if reinfection occurs or as directed by a healthcare professional.
The suspension should be shaken well before use. Use the recommended measuring device to ensure accurate dosing. Treatment duration and dosage may vary depending on the type of parasitic infection.
Administration: Mebendazole Suspension is administered orally. It may be taken with or without food. Measure the prescribed dose carefully and follow the recommended treatment schedule. Maintaining proper hygiene practices may help prevent reinfection.
Contraindications: This product should not be used in individuals with known hypersensitivity or allergy to mebendazole or any component of the formulation. Use is generally avoided in children below 2 years of age unless specifically advised by a healthcare professional. Caution is recommended during pregnancy, particularly during the first trimester, and in patients with significant liver impairment unless evaluated and prescribed by a healthcare provider.
